I tried to write a small cycle about places by the river Danube and also some tunes to complete the recording.

Petrovaradinska Tvrdzava - an Intro to the recording, it´s an anti-Turk fortress above Novi Sad, over the Danube river. It´s a beautifull place, I tried to play an introduction and I hope to caught the Balkan athmosphere a little bit.

Fluchtpunkt Istanbul - is a love song, Bossa-nova, named by a Finish film. The main character resigned and escaped from the cold north to Istanbul. Alex comes from Austria, but she sang it beautifully in the Slovak language.

Shalom Chaverim - if I´m not wrong, comes from the area of former Halic. I was thinking how to diversify it for a long time, although it is very nice itself. So I inserted the middle part in 6/8 rhytm, to achieve a certain contrast.

Sweet Sue´s 18th Birthday - a tumbao rhytm, friend of mine, Susan, wrote nice lyrics, so I called the tune Sweet Sue...

Prater Menuet - here, in Vienna´s Prater, starts the Danube cycle. Vienna is a city of waltz, that's why I wrote a Menuet, an old baroque dance in 3/4.

Sad Janka Kráľa (Janko Kral park) - a park in Bratislava, one of the oldest in middle Europe, a nice place.

Ostrihom - following the stream of the Danube, it comes Ostrihom, a long meter minor blues.

Petrovaradinska Tvrdzava Outro - this is the end of the little trip, in Vojvodina's capitol Novi Sad.

World-ethno project Duduk

Duduk (2008)

Duduk is a very old Armenian breathing musical instrument, its origin goes far to the times before Christ. It has a beautiful inimitable sound, which reflects troubled Armenian history, but also of other nations, which adopted this instrument in the course of time.

The idea of this project was to put together a band without bigger style limits, which would play compositions adopted from different nations and cultures (mainly from the Central and Southeast Europe), possibly its own compositions composed in this spirit. First it was Klezmer melodies, later Slovak and Balkan songs. At times when I started to play in my friend Flaco's band again, a flamenco gitarist, we started to be occupied with Sefard and Flamenco compositions. Imprtant though was the meeting with Karin, Armenian singer and composer. Her pretty voice and peculiar style was a new impulse. We extented our repertory with Armenian songs and recorded couple of songs.
